Cyber risk isn't evenly distributed, and our latest breach report proves it. After analyzing breach events across 196,000 organizations in 178 countries over the last decade, we found striking patterns based on where companies operate, how big they are, and what industry they're in.

🌎Geography

Japan tops the global breach charts. Among the world's 20 largest economies, Japan recorded the highest breach rate with 20 breach events for every 100 monitored organizations. That's well above the global average, showing just how aggressively threat actors are targeting Japanese enterprises.

🏥Industry

When it comes to industry impact, healthcare leads the way accounting for over a quarter (27.2%) of all publicly reported breach events. With massive volumes of sensitive data and a sprawling digital infrastructure, the sector continues to face unrelenting pressure.

Which industries round out the top three? They might surprise you.

🏢 Company Size

The larger your attack surface, the more likely you are to be breached. Organizations with more than 5,000 internet-facing systems had a 20x higher breach rate than small firms with 10 or fewer. In this case, it's not just about proper security, it's also about sheer exposure.
